With more than 240 projects competing for an award and some 350 invitees at a prestigious ceremony hosted by the Commissioner for Energy, Mr. Piebalgs, the second edition of the Sustainable Energy Europe Award Competition once again showed great success. The European Commission/DG Transport and Energy has therefore decided to launch the third edition of this European competition. This edition is open to all projects submitted between November 1st 2007 and October 31st 2008. The winners will be rewarded during a ceremony that will be held in Brussels next February 10th 2009.

The annual Awards Competition is an integral part of the Sustainable Energy Europe Campaign. It provides an invaluable opportunity to highlight the successes of the most outstanding, ambitious and innovative programmes or actions and to reward those Sustainable Energy Partners most worthy of recognition and praise.

The Awards Ceremony helps publicise the objectives of the Sustainable Energy Europe Campaign to the wider public. The winning projects will be promoted to the press and showcased as examples of excellence, inspiring energy actors outside the Campaign and providing models to guide and stimulate more recently established partnerships.
